On the outside, James Renouf from Western Newfoundland is an outgoing seven-year old who loves to help people and play with his friends. An active boy, James enjoys anything that moves, including cars, monster trucks and his miniature ATV. But things are a lot different on the inside. James has Duchene Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a disease that gradually weakens muscles throughout the body.

Right now, DMD isn’t slowing James down. He keeps busy riding his bike and playing on the computer. And he loves to watch his father, a car mechanic, build a 4 x 4 truck in the garage.

James’ love of cars and trucks is the inspiration behind his wish—to go to Disney in May 2012 and see Lightning McQueen, his favourite character from the children’s move, “Cars”. This wish is a welcome reward for a boy dealing with so much in his young life.
