In October, we received an urgent call from Alberta Children’s Hospital; 6-year old wish child Cale, who has been battling Menkes since birth, had taken a turn for the worse. When asked what Cale’s wish would be there was no hesitation that Cale would love a Hot Tub, “he loves warm water” said Lawrence, his dad. Being in warm water helps Cale relax and as it happens, one of the only things that offers him comfort is soothing hot water on his skin. It was getting more difficult to lift Cale in and out of the bath and ideally, what he needed was a Hot Tub, where he could lie down in comfort for an extended period of time.

With the help of Sunrise Spas, we were able to grant Cale’s wish just two weeks after we were contacted by the Alberta Children’s Hospital. We entertained Cale with some red balloons (his favourite colour) while the installation took place and then watched him relax in the warm water of his new Hot Tub. A new red bath sheet helped to keep him warm when he eventually came out.

We would like to send our sincere thanks to everyone who shared in making Cale’s wish come true. Your gift to him is truly a dream come true. Cale really has only a few things in this world that today he can truly enjoy and share with the rest of his family. The Hot Tub not only provided this but is used as a therapeutic tool to improve the overall quality Cale’s life.
